Anorthic Labs
About

An operational technology partner, built on decades of engineering practice

Anorthic Labs, founded by Steve Perry, helps established organisations improve how they operate — implementing AI-assisted workflows, automation and software inside the systems they already rely on.

The company is deliberately small and senior. There is no delivery team to be handed off to: the experience is the service.

It draws on more than 25 years spanning design, software engineering and security, and on leading development teams responsible for business-critical platforms.

Origins

From design discipline to engineering practice

Steve began his career in the 1990s in graphic design, working alongside professional studios and print specialists delivering work for both multinational and regional organisations.

This early experience developed a foundation in structured thinking, clarity, and precision – principles that continue to inform his engineering work today.

As the web became central to business operations, his focus shifted toward software engineering and system design. Over time, this evolved into designing and building full-scale applications, operational platforms, and business-critical systems.

Since 2013, Steve has operated independently, delivering software engineering through Steve Perry Creative Ltd, while continuing to expand into larger and more complex systems.

Leadership

Engineering leadership

Alongside his hands-on engineering work, Steve leads a web engineering team within a UK-based agency environment, overseeing the design, development, and delivery of client platforms.

Leading a team provides continual exposure to real-world engineering challenges across multiple organisations and sectors. This leadership perspective directly informs the work of Anorthic Labs.

It ensures that solutions are not only technically sound, but operationally practical.

Responsibilities
  • Technical architecture
  • Engineering standards
  • System reliability
  • Mentoring and developing engineers
  • Quality and maintainability
Security

Security-led engineering

Recognising that software capability must be matched by security and resilience, Steve completed a GCHQ-accredited MSc in Advanced Security and Digital Forensics at Edinburgh Napier University, graduating with Distinction.

His research has contributed to publication in the Journal of Digital Forensics, Security and Law.

Security is treated as a core engineering responsibility. Not an optional extra.

Philosophy

Practical results, not AI theatre

Anorthic Labs applies AI where it demonstrably improves an operation — and recommends automation, integration or process change where those are the better tools. Every AI-assisted workflow is delivered with human oversight, security boundaries and monitoring, because a workflow a business depends on is production software.

AI is used to extend what people and organisations can do. Not to replace judgement, and not for its own sake.

The underlying principle has not changed since the company began: software should feel calm, capable, and dependable. That requires deliberate engineering, clear thinking, and long-term responsibility.

Environment

Anorthic Labs operates from a studio on the edge of the Peak District in Staffordshire, UK. This independent environment reflects the company's approach: focused, deliberate, and engineering-led.

Anorthic Labs is operated by Steve Perry Creative Ltd.

Technology underpins how organisations operate

Anorthic Labs exists to make that technology work harder — dependably, securely, and with people in charge.
